Hope and Help
for Family Issues
As I thought about the subject of family issues, it was obvious that these three -
blended families,
in-laws,
and parenting,
were the first to my mind since I have personally experienced all three! It also amazed me to find that, today, at least one-third of all children in the U.S. are expected to live in a step-family before they reach age 18. It is with deep compassion that I offer hope to those of you that are in
blended families.
In 1998, I married my second (and last)husband and my best friend. After the first marriage, it wasn't easy for me to take this step, but I am very grateful that God placed us together! I had a son from my first marriage and he had a son from his first marriage. The boys were only seven months apart in age, but total opposites!
We have been through many struggles and problems, but I can now say that it was all worth it! Today, we are in the best time of our marriage - now empty-nesters! It's been a rollercoaster ride but God saw us through our trials and now have the best marriage we could ever ask for! My advice to those of you on the same rollercoaster ride--Don't jump off! There is hope if you will set the goal of putting God first in your marriage. This was the one and only true link that made our marriage work then and why it is what it is today!
